This was my first early Black Friday shopping experience. And by early I mean ridiculously early. I’m talking 3:00 in the am, thankfully there was a Starbucks open to wake me up a little. Along with me were my mom and awesome husband. My dad decided to stay back “to be with Kenedee”, although my brother stayed back too, so he would have been fine staying with Kenedee, I think Papa just didn’t want to get out and shop so early. We hit Kohl’s, Walmart, and Target. I do have to say it is true madness! We’re talking people chanting in line while at Kohls; TV’s and cameras being passed through the crowd at Walmart. We found some very good deals, got a lot of shopping out of the way. We were able to buy coats for a family of 4 that our youth group is sponsoring from the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. It was a great experience, this afternoon we are off to do some more shopping, it should be fun.
This year my family decided to put a little twist on Thanksgiving and spend it in Branson, MO. I know it may sound a little odd, but it’s a nice little escape for a short while. We will still have our traditional thanksgiving dinner, just not at home. Although the place we’re staying is very cozy and has all the comforts of home. Kyle will have to get past all the “countryness” (I think I just made that word up) that Branson has to offer, but it should be fun. We plan on getting up fairly early in the morning to do a little black Friday shopping, we have lost our camera somehow; or it’s been stolen, we’re not sure, so we’re hoping to find a good deal on a new one. I’ve never been up and gone shopping early on Black Friday, so it should be interesting. Kyle is hoping to get a good story for a message, maybe on of the five he’ll be doing in December. He is so great at what he does. I am definitely thankful to have him in my life. What are some things you are thankful for? Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Tonight we took Kenedee to the Mills, for her birthday she earned a free ride on the carousel. She was able to have up to 9 friends go with her. She’s not quite old enough yet to invite a group of friends to the mall,so Kyle and I were her “friends tonight”. Immediately, Kenedee wanted to go on the little teacup ride and she wanted Mommy to go with her. Surely I was able to handle it, right? Ummm, no. I was getting all hot and feeling flush, I thought for sure I was going to toss my cookies right there on the carousel. Luckily I didn’t, but I definitely wasn’t able to go around for ride #2. I used to be able to tolerate things like that, I can remember going on all the crazy spinning rides at carnivals and amusement parks, I guess not anymore. Hopefully she doesn’t always want mommy to go on the spinning rides with her.
Today was Kenedee’s 3rd birthday party. We had a Princess Tea Party for her. She is very into all the princesses right now.
Her party turned out better than I had hoped. We stressed our selves the week prior trying to get the basement finished, but it was worth it. I think I’d do anything (within reason) for my little princess. For more pics. go here.
For this family night, we celebrated Kenedee’s 3rd birhtday, I can’t believe she is 3 already. It has gone by so fast. For breakfast, we had one of her favorites; pancakes. I attempted to make into a Mickey Mouse shape.
Tonight Kenedee was yelling out Daddy which isn’t unusual for her these days, especially at bedtime. So, I go in there and she tells me “I said Daddy.” I told her how Daddy was down working in the basement and she told me she had to tell him something and it was a secret. So, I go and get Kyle and their conversation went a little like this:
KJ: “I have a secret from mommy, 5 questions”
Kyle told her to go ahead with question #1 which was “Why do you have hair right there?” (referring to his soul patch)
Question #2 “Why do you have two eyes?”
Question #3 “Why do you have a head?”
Question #4 “Why do my clothes hang right there?” (referring to her closet that doesn’t have doors on it yet)
There was no question 5 because Kyle stopped her. It amazes me how her little mind works sometimes. Although this was supposed to be her secret from me, this one time where Kyle just couldn’t resist telling me.
We had a huge rummage sale last weekend. All the money raised went to the students for mission trips, camps, and any other youth activities. While helping with organizing and pricing, I came across a little wooden rocking chair, perfect for my little Kenedee. I’ve been wanting to get her one, but didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money.
After a little TLC and paint, it turned out great. Her toes don’t quite touch the floor yet so it’s kind of hard for her to rock in it, but she’ll grow into it. By the, this was taken in our basement with our newly laid carpet, well it’s almost finished being laid in this picture. The before picture was previous to the carpet being laid. There is a story behind the basement..one to be shared later.
