We safely arrived home from Nashville last night. We had a really great time. Our students did amazing at serving. We worked with a boys and girls club every morning and then did other activities the rest of they day during the whole week. We worked a lot with the homeless population. One night we did what was called an urban exposure and had the opportunity to find transportation to downtown and eat on $2 a person, it was a very eye opening experience. The Lord really worked in a lot of our student’s lives, it was so great to see how he spoke to them throughout the week and what they took away at the end of the week. Our hope is that they now realize how we can serve in our community here at home. It was a long tiring week sleeping in room that was about 90 degrees, but I’m so thankful I was able to go. It was great for me because I was able to get closer to our students. For more info. on the week, check out Kyle’s blog. As much as I loved being in Nashville serving, I am glad to be home with my girl, Kenedee Jane.
Well, we are on our mission trip with the students this week and this is just an update of our first couple of days here. We left Saturday morning and headed to a ropes course just outside of Nashville. We finally found it after driving around for and hour and a half of searching, we were relying on our Google directions and ended up driving to a road that dead ended into a creek. It was quite the experience, but we finally found the ropes course. It was very challenging, but everyone did awesome. I was so proud of Kyle, he is terrified of heights, but he did the whole thing with me. We stayed in a hotel that night and caught up with some friends that we have here in Nashville. On Sunday we arrived to CSM which is the organizations we are going through. Our ministry work starts today. I am really excited to see how God is going to use us this week. I think our students are going to do amazing. As much as I miss being away from Kenedee, I think the Lord is going to use us in amazing ways this week.
This is my sweet little 2 yr. old singing the B-I-B-L-E. As much as I get tired of listening to the same CDs over and over, it’s so great to hear her sing some of the songs. Of course, she’s not perfect at it, but it’s so precious to me. And for some reason those little fingers always want to go towards the nose, I just don’t get it! I love this child.
I can’t believe we’ve been married for six years! It’s gone by so fast, the Lord has truly blessed our marriage so far. This year Kyle decided to plan everything which was very nice for me, we didn’t exchange gifts, we just spent the whole day doing things. We went out for breakfast in the morning, following that we went horseback riding. I had never gone before which was something that I’d always wanted to do. I was a little nervous at first, but really enjoyed myself, they even let our horses trot a little. Following that we came home and relaxed, well I relaxed while Kyle mowed the lawn (typical Saturday duty). After that, we went to a movie which is something we really don’t get to do very often. Then, we went shopping down in the Loop which is kind of an eclectic shopping area here. After that, we went and had a very nice dinner at a restaurant recommended to us, which was excellent. Then, we went and had dessert at this place called The Chocolate Bar (it was family friendly). Thanks to my parents, we were able to do all this, they kept Kenedee all day and night. Next year will be my year to plan, hopefully it will measure up to this day.
Well, yesterday was Kyle’s day off. We usually try to have a family day on his days off. Our community just built a new aquatic center, so we decided to check it out. The weather was perfect. Kenedee was not enjoying it at all when we first arrived. They had the perfect play area for children, but she just wasn’t into it. She would go down the slide with one of us, but whine almost the whole time. She would play in the water for maybe a minute, and then want to lay down on the chair. We thought we were going to have leave after only being there for 30 minutes. But, finally after spending some time in the big pool jumping to mommy and daddy, and sitting in her floatie, she was ready to brave the play area again. She loved it and was even going down the slide by herself. We had so much fun!
Okay, so my 6 yr. old niece is in town visiting from Florida, so she is spending most days with us while my brother is at work. At first, I wasn’t so sure I wanted to do, but it has been fun. It’s been a little challenging at times because Makenna doesn’t always understand that Kenedee is only 2. Kenedee has also had her rough times when it comes to sharing toys. But, we’ve definitely had fun the last couple of days. Yesterday, they played hide and seek. It was funny because Makenna would hide somewhere, and then Kenedee would go and hide in the exact same spot. It’s been nice for Kenedee to have somebody closer to her age to play with, as I’m sure she gets tired of Mommy and Daddy.
Today, the girls played in the sprinkler, they had so much fun. Kenedee doesn’t really like it to be very high though, as long as it hits her below her face she’s good.
Okay, this is my first attempt at blogging. My husband has challenged me to blog three times a week for 4 weeks. He’s been blogging for 9 months and wanted me to try it out, so here it goes. We are a family of 3 living in St. Louis. I am wife to Kyle, he is the love of my life. We’ve been married for 6 years. We have a beautiful daugther, Kenedee Jane, who is 2 1/2. Kyle is youth pastor, which the Lord has definitely blessed him to have the ability to do. I am full time mommy and work part time as a nurse. God continues to teach me things daily and I am so thankful for that, I never want to be simply just standing still in my walk with him.
